L.A. City Engineers Hack Computer Traffic System
Written by Mike Rede on November 10, 2008 – 5:49 pm -You always read about how most computer hacking jobs are done from the inside. Well here’s another story to add to the proof that most hacking jobs are inside jobs.
Last week, in Los Angeles, California, two city engineers pleaded guilty to felony charges of illegally accessing a city computer. The two engineers were disgruntled with the city and so during a labor dispute in August 2006 decided to show the City of L.A. who’s the boss. They hacked into their computer traffic system and proceeded to cause major traffic problems.
Oftentimes you’ll read about computer hackers and your worry is that they’re stealing company secrets, customer records, social security numbers or other confidential information.
