You helped me figure out what my issue was.

When I set up the account, the exchange server would be called SERVER.

Following a reboot, outlook had changed this to SERVER.DOMAIN.local

Of course, SERVER.DOMAIN.local was not pingable.  Adding in a hosts entry has solved this one!

Interestingly, this only happened on one computer that worked fine with OWA.
